Experiment Farm Cottage- Primary Excursion Harris Park Date: Week 5 - Friday 15th November Time: 12:30-2pm Where: 9 Ruse Street, Harris Park NSW 2150 (Parking: There is metered and unmetered parking nearby. Getting there: Experiment Farm is a 15-minute walk from Parramatta train station, or a 10-minute walk south from Parramatta Wharf) Cost: $10 per student (age 5 and up), $5 per adult Program: Colony, Country and Conflict . Through these programmes, students gain insight into different lives and key events in the history of the early colony, the hardships and achievements of James Ruse, a poor farmer, and the power and affluence of John Harris, a military surgeon. Comparisons will be made between colonial and indigenous ways of life, and how one impacted the other. Activities include seed-planting, early water-carrying techniques, plant identification (native and introduced) and colonial medicine-making and housekeeping. Pre & post visit lesson packs will be sent for use.
