Service Description

Join expert Silvana from Fifth Avenue Retreat (Katoomba) in a traditional Italian Biscuit Class where children (adults can book too) will make, design and packag biscuits from scratch for lovely, handmade Christmas gifts. 'Making our biscuits is lots of fun as we show your children how to twist the dough into a few of our traditional shapes. We start by showing the different ingredients needed, and they will measure them all out and combine them to make the dough. For the older students, or any who are interested, we encourage them to get involved in the baking process also. From preparing the oven trays, preheating the oven, supervising the baking and turning them out once cooked. We also encourage the children to help with cleaning up. Too often, these tasks are done by adults, leaving out the most important parts of the lesson, and we believe there is no better way to learn than first hand. This also encourages good habits for life. The final part of the class is sitting down to enjoy what we’ve made together in class, with a glass of milk (and Milo optional) or juice or water. A great way to get kids interested in what they eat and parents will love that we use way less sugar than store-bought. This a family recipe that you can make at home and children will receive a recipe card to take home, as well as a gift bag of biscuits.
